Mike Griego 'Perfume' on A Line In The Sand

Mike Griego has a long list of credits in progressive house that goes back to 2009, and in December he added another one with 'Perfume' on A Line In The Sand. The track follows 'Space' on Replug from October, and it has already picked up a co-sign from Marsh, who placed it ninth in his 'Reimagined' Chart on 13 December.
'Perfume' is a steady, rolling cut that does a lot with a little. The drum figure is even and unhurried, and the percussive layer does most of the work. There is room under the peaks, which keeps the low end open, and the whole thing sits bright at the top. It is the kind of record that works best when the floor has space to move.
The A Line In The Sand release came out on 4 December, right as the Tulum season was getting going. At 123 BPM and in G flat minor, it is built for long sets and slow-burning nights. Griego's catalogue now stands at 47 releases, with the bulk of them on Replug, Sudbeat, Balkan Connection South America, and Soundteller. 'Perfume' is another solid entry in a discography that keeps its head down and does the work.
