Mau Maioli 'Sunday' on Cardume Records

Cardume Records' note for its annual VA release says the compilation gathers 15 artists that "gravitate throughout the label and party's atmosphere." With events all around Brazilian cities, the label celebrated its third year by collecting songs from artists in its orbit. Mau Maioli is one of the artists on the third compilation, with 'Sunday', a track from Dec 15, 2023.

Mau Maioli has two releases since 19 June 2020, on Warung Recordings and Inner Shah Recordings. His most recent record before 'Sunday' was 'Tacami / Upwards' on Inner Shah Recordings, released 24 November 2023.

'Sunday' is an organic house track with a spare drum figure under rich harmony, a loud record with little give under its peaks, half bright at the top. The drums are mixed loud enough that the percussion takes the lead, and the harmony adds a touch of melancholy that makes this work as a late-night track too. It's well suited for the Tulum season, which wraps up this month. The track was also placed seventh in Adam Ten's chart for Toys on Apr 20, 2024.
