Yamil 'Giving Love to Me' on MoBlack Records

Yamil's closing track on the Maiye EP arrives on MoBlack Records, filed as Afro house and released on 12 January. Andhim placed it seventh of 10 on his own chart, posted 6 March, a list where Ivory (IT)'s 'It's A New Day' on Exit Strategy held sixth, as Tulum moves through the closing weeks of its season.
The Maiye EP opens with an ethnic instrumental fusion built on soulful Xhosa vocals, continuing through 'Kale Kale' before closing on this track. It leans toward harmony, the percussion thin on the ground beneath it, held back in level with plenty of room under the peaks, and a top end that sits neither bright nor dark.
MoBlack Records was last covered on 29 November, with MAXI MERAKI, Jamek Ortega and Samm (BE)'s 'Don't Care Anymore', and Yamil's EP closes on its warmest turn.

MoBlack Records, Bandcamp about text · sourceYamil delivers a stunning three-track musical sojourn, adding yet more gems to his expanding repertoire. Maiye EP embarks with an enterprising fusion of ethnic instrumentals, soulful Xhosa vocals and delicate electronic nuances. Harmonizing a choir of resolute youth with propulsive cadences and poignant chords, the spirited title track is an uplifting hymn of resilience, designed to transcend dancefloors or any space of human interaction. Following suit, Yamil weaves a prismatic tapestry of lush percussive elements, tender notes and orbicular swells. Undulated by reverent folk vocals and opaque resonance, "Kale Kale'' trails a harmonic dance between organic and synth elements that culminates in soothing consonance. The EP concludes with "Giving Love to Me," a euphoric anthem adorned with nostalgic riffs, mesmerizing rhythms, and wistful melodies. This quixotic finale resonates deeply with the fundamental drive for connection and love, embodying the power of sound to bring people together.
