Matador 'Sol' on Rukus

Matador arrives at 'Sol', on Rukus, as the latest entry in a catalogue of 35 releases, most of them spread across Perc Trax, Minus, Yoshitoshi Recordings and Crosstown Rebels. His last one before this was 'My Yellow Coat', on Crosstown Rebels, back in March, and the two records sit comfortably in the same run of form. Sol itself runs at 125 BPM, in G major, a pairing that has suited his recent work well.

Sol keeps its drums and chords close in weight, with a light touch of percussion and an insistent, tightly wound push throughout. It is a confident groove, another entry in Matador's now 35-strong catalogue.
