LUCH, AVÖ (PT) 'YAWA (One In A Million)' on Disposable

At 118 BPM, 'YAWA (One In A Million)' is the slowest of the 11 Afro House records this week, whose tempos run from 118 to 123 BPM. Slowest doesn't mean least effective though. Here the percussive layer does the work: steady work from the drums keeps the groove moving, and with the overall level kept quiet, the peaks stay well clear. The top of it is dark, too, a rough edge over the rhythm that keeps the record honest. It's a fine balance of restraint and intent, a cut that knows what it's doing and doesn't feel the need to shout about it.

The record sees LUCH team with AVÖ (PT) for 'One In A Million', released on Disposable on 5 July 2024. Since 31 May 2024 LUCH has had one release, on Purified Records, and this new outing continues that low-key approach. This one has already found favour with Francis Mercier, who placed it sixth of 15 in his Sauti chart on 18 July.
