Keith Holland 'Idealismo' on ICONYC
Sao Paulo's Keith Holland has brought his "sensual take on the house-ier side of dance music" to ICONYC, with a two-track release called 'Idealismo'. He has previously been enlisted by the likes of Innervisions and Sum Over Histories, and here he works in an unhurried, melodic frame: the harmony carries the record, with percussion that never rushes the groove. It's a record that looks to the past for its structural cues, reconfigured for the current club climate, and it shows why the label signed him.
'Idealismo' is the nineteenth release of 2024 for ICONYC, continuing the label's steady run of output this autumn. Out on 25th October, the record has already found its way into the crate of Space Motion, who placed it fifth in his recent Creator chart.

Coming through in lush waves, Keith Hollands Idealismo struts to its own groove as velvet-laced house stabs rise across some heavy-handed drum programming before colliding against a bubbly bassline. Adding depth, dubbed-out stabs take hold of the piece, leading us down to a first break, where Hollands creativity is left to rummage unchecked, unleashing a meandering synth out from the left field, infusing Idealismo with a most welcomed dash of wonder and tension. As we arrive at its centerpiece, Holland allows the track to deflate completely as anticipation takes over before bringing it all back in for a gripping finale.
Flexing its power with consummate aplomb, Classuda showcases a more aggressive nature than its predecessor, treading over a thunderous frame as brass hits and synthetic chords set a true underground tone. Now undoubtedly vibing to Classuda, Holland introduces some classic rave-style vocals before unbinding swaying synths and arousing drum arrangements, leading us to another minimalist break. Here, the Brazilian producer works his restrain in absolute flair before letting Classuda rip it up once again for an all-out assault on the dancefloors.
