Graumann 'Bro House' on Urge To Dance
Pete Tong placed 'Bro House' 17th of 20 on his Where's The Music Gone chart on 12 July, a list that also carried WhoMadeWho, Blue Hawaii and Adam Ten's 'Kiss Me Hard' in the Adam Ten Remix on The Moment at 10th. Graumann's record on Urge To Dance, filed as Melodic House and Techno, was released 21 June, arriving as Lisbon and Berlin reach the height of summer.
More chord than drum runs through this one, with an even drum pattern sitting underneath. The level stays restrained and keeps its own headroom, and a muted top end keeps everything close rather than bright. It is a composed, chord led piece of production, confident in how much it holds back.
'Bro House' is one of 16 releases from Graumann since 26 October 2015, three of them on Steyoyoke, two on UV and two on Sounds Of Earth; the most recent before this was 'Axioma vol. 3' on Eleatics Records on 3 March 2023. A catalogue that wide across that many labels makes a chart placing on Pete Tong's own list a meaningful one.

On remix duties for Bro House is Selderv with his time traveler remix. A tribute to the 90s & the 00s, Selderv's 2009 Ibiza Teleport Remix causes a musical cognitive dissonance as it brilliantly blends beloved old-school elements with a pinch of futurism. Incredibly danceable and keeping the acid sexiness, the remix is a big room, summer crowd-pleaser.
On the B-side, Boom Face goes into a darker, naughtier and more dynamic direction where the solid kick and basslines are accompanied by well-incorporated tribal percussions and more underlying acid vibes
Last, but not least is Fec's take on Boom Face. If you thought by now that the EP could not get dirtier, Fec is here to change your mind. Pulsating basslines, uncompromisingly dynamic percussions, heavy and ravey stabs, and twitchy UK Garage-inspired synth line, turn Fec's remix in to something special !
