Francis Mercier, Boukman Eksperyans 'Imamou' on Deep Root Tribe

'Imamou' is Francis Mercier and Boukman Eksperyans's first release on Deep Root Tribe since 'Holy - Extended Mix' in April 2022, a gap of about two years. The Extended Mix is filed as Afro House and was released 17 May, arriving as Berlin moves through May.

The percussive layer does the work here, with a busy drum figure driving most of the track's motion. The level and headroom both stay moderate, and a top end pitched between bright and dark keeps the mix from settling into either extreme. It is a confident, drum forward piece of production, patient enough to let two years pass before returning to it.

Francis Mercier placed 'Imamou' ninth of 20 on his own Yuma Gorah Chart on 7 May, a list where six of the 20 records carry the Deep Root Tribe name and Emmanuel Jal and Nitefreak's 'Gorah' sits at first. Deep Root Tribe last covered Starving Yet Full and MP3 (DE)'s 'Komeza' on 11 May, and this one returns to a label clearly still close to home.
