Dosem, Nihil Young, Paige 'Amethyst' on Purified Records
In high summer, when Lisbon and Berlin are cooking under the same sun and the clubs are full of those who stayed behind, Dosem, Nihil Young and Paige join forces for a collaborative two-track EP on Purified Records. Out 7 July, it is the 22nd release of 2023 on the label, which has been on a tear with 24 releases this year to date, and it is a masterclass in the kind of progressive house that makes the world feel a little wider.
'AMETHYST' opens with a driving, spacious bassline and a hypnotic pulse that feels like the slow turn of a prism. Paige's vocals hover in the upper register, light and clear, while the percussion stays sparse and confident, letting every element land with intent. The result is a track that works the floor without ever feeling hurried, a slow-burning builder that peaks somewhere far off in the distance. The B-side, 'Hydra', takes a slightly different route, moving through undulating waves of sound that blend light and shade.
