Deer Jade's music has become a reference point for a certain kind of dancefloor meditation, one that leaves the mind room to wander while the feet keep their own time. 'Firmament' is her first release on Innervisions since the label's 30 August 2024 release of Firmament / Back To Basics, which places this new offering about 17 months after its predecessor.

Deer Jade's tracks are often admired for how precisely they balance their constituent parts, and 'Firmament' is a fine example of that craft. The drums and the chords weigh the same; each element steps into a mix that leaves the percussion plenty of room to breathe, with a soft level of headroom to spare and a top end kept deliberately dim. The result is a sound that feels both spacious and grounded, with the kind of low-slung momentum that does its work quietly.

'Firmament' also appears on Sébastien Léger's "Giv Me Luv" charts, published on 27 February, where it sits fifth in a list of ten. The track is the first release of 2026 for Innervisions, and one of only two so far this year, a reminder of how carefully the label curates its catalogue. Deer Jade continues to refine a sound that feels entirely her own.
