Contribe 'Batucada' on Club Bad

Faul & Wad placed 'Batucada' second of 11 on their own Selection Campanera on 14 November. Contribe's Afro House record on Club Bad was released 8 August, arriving as Miami settles into its dry season.

The track splits evenly between its percussion and its harmony, with a steady percussive surface anchoring the mix. The level runs forward with almost no room left under the peaks, and a muted top end keeps everything close rather than bright. It is a dense, confident piece of production, comfortable with very little space between its elements.

The same chart also carried 'Sauti' in the Massala Extended Remix, by African Children's Choir, Francis Mercier, Faul & Wad and MASSALA on Insomniac Records, at seventh. 'Batucada' is one of two releases from Contribe since 12 June 2020, both on We Are Freaks Records; the most recent before this was 'Various Freaks, Vol. 6 Celebration' on the same label on 9 December 2022. Club Bad last covered Joeski's 'Para Elegua' on 12 September, and this is a rare high placement for a small but steady catalogue.
