CamelPhat, Josh Gigante 'The One' on When Stars Align

It's that time of year in Tulum, where the season hangs in the balance between quiet mornings and the promise of wild nights. Before the first big bookings land, the selectors are already stockpiling ammunition, and one record in particular has been moving through their crates with unusual speed.

CamelPhat and Josh Gigante's 'The One' has now been charted by three major DJs in the space of just a few days. CamelPhat themselves placed it first of 20 on their own chart on 7 November. Pete Tong followed suit the next day, sliding it into 11th place within his seasonal 'Places & Spaces' selection. Then Dirty South made it three in a row, placing it third within his 'Come Closer' chart on 5 November.

The extended mix is built with a careful symmetry; the drums and chords carry equal weight, there are few hits to the beat, and the whole arrangement sits forward in level with a bright top end. It's the kind of record that works in the open air, which is perhaps why it's finding its way into so many bags ahead of the season.

It marks the first release from CamelPhat and Josh Gigante on When Stars Align since 'Destino' arrived back in September, a gap of roughly two months. With the support of these selectors, it seems likely to be a fixture in the months ahead.
